I sort of saw the solar eclipse. I couldn't find anything quite dark enough so I just took quick looks at it. I tried to take pictures but even through dark glass it was too bright. Eclipses are interesting but I don't think I would travel across country just to see one like some people do.

I've had a very slight sore throat at night for a few nights and early this morning I woke up to a much sorer throat. I've been taking ibuprofen and it seems to be better but I feel like I'm coming down with a cold.

I'm having a very difficult time with the petition drive. The problem is not that I don't think the city should spend a larger proportion of their money on transit but I hate the idea of raising taxes to get the money. I think everyone pays too much in taxes as it is and we need to reapportion how we spend the money. I know that won't happen and we'll only get decent transit with both a good transportation bill and an increase in sales tax, but it is so hard for me to ask people to sign the petition for the increase in sales tax.
