Half the year is gone already. It happens about this time each year but always seems to sneak up on us. How can a day go so slow but the months and years go so fast. I'm startled sometimes when I look in the mirror and wonder how I got so old. I don't feel that old. I still feel like I should have all my life ahead of me. Even the college kids don't seem like they're that much younger than me, till I'm brought back to reality by realizing that I'm sagging a little more. I have inches that they don't and they aren't sculpted. Ah, yes, the angst of it all. The bus before mine broke down so coming home my bus was full, then a person in a wheelchair got on, which meant three people had to get up. Everyone was very nice about it. You don't hear the passengers or the drivers complaining about it like they used to when they first put the wheelchair lifts on. It's rather nice to know that someone can get around that couldn't before. There were a few people who always sprawl across a couple seats or put their bad on the seat next to them. That's fine when there's room but when it's crowded it is so rude. One guy had to be asked before he would move his backpack. So tacky. This is one of my pet peeves. When I get off the bus I always just miss the street light so now I stand in the shadow of a light pole. This is how you tell who's lived in Arizona for a while. The newcomers stand out in the sun while the rest of us turn sideways so we can get what little shade there is. Oh, if we could only get some rain. The humidity would go up but the temps would go down, for a while. I noticed that the apartment below we and the one next to it are empty. They stay pretty full here but I live in the studio building and the turn over always seems to be rather brisk. In the apartment below me there were two grade school kids and I'm sure living in a small studio with two kids gets old fast. Even people who think they can't afford more usually find a way. There are a few studios that have had a kid or two each in them for well over a year, though. They have a couple pools but no playground here. I suppose the insurance is high on that kind of thing, but it's too bad for the children, because there are quite a few in the complex. We don't have a park close, either, so they don't have anything to pull them outside. It's hot now but the rest of the year is great for being outside. I just realized that there was no playground since I don't really notice that sort of thing anymore. It's not really an issue when I'm choosing an apartment.
