It's great biking to work right now. All the grass and weeds are making Tucson look like the east coast, or, at least, the midwest. Everyone has grass nearly to their knees and there are a lot of Tucsonians who don't own lawn mowers. Usually you don't need one. You just weed your gravel once in a while and no problem. I even saw some amaranth and lambs quarter coming up. Maybe I could pick a few fresh greens for supper tomorrow. We had our New Years party at work. I must say that Auld Lang Syne just doesn't sound as good at noon when you're sober. We ate till we were stuffed. It's nice to over eat once in a while. The work was little piddley because we couldn't use our major accounting system so we couldn't do most of what we do. It was a catch up day and we went over new year procedures, did a little filing and a little clean up and whatever work we could do with the systems that were up. I tried writing a short story today. A very short story. I never got past three paragraphs without erasing everything. My problem is pronouns. After I say "she did" and "she went" and "she saw" several times it becomes a bit repetitive, but I get stuck because it says what I mean, it's just boring to read. I've got plenty of plots, I just can't seem to write them down. It is so frustrating! I got a few sprinkles coming home but I got wet from the water on the road since a storm went through just before I got off work. I rode down to the Rillito but the water had already passed by the time I got there. The sky was wonderful with a mixture of blue showing through, dark clouds and streaks of rain still coming down as the storm moved across the valley. It's very cool outside right now and feels so nice. I wish I had a porch but a studio with a porch or balcony is very rare and it's very hard to find one that I can afford that has a vacancy. Even most one bedrooms don't have a balcony until you get into the higher priced apartment which I don't want to do. A new apartment is on my list since I'm thinking of moving next February when my lease is up. I need a little more airflow and a little outdoor space of my own. My new camera takes much better night pictures, but you have to hold the camera very still. A tripod is recommended but not only don't I have one but I wouldn't want to carry one around. The first roll had very blurry night pictures so I'm going to have to remember to brace myself.
