I read a couple of nice mysteries today. One was "Malice Poetic" by Betty Rowlands which involved haiku as part of the plot. The other was "A Mystery Bred in Buckhead" by Patricia Sprinkle which was full of southern ladies and gentlemen which always is fun. They were very relaxing. I also spent an hour in the library reading magazines. It's so nice to browse through a magazine without having to buy them plus you can dip into and skip through dozens at the library. The plaza in front of the library was busy, as always around noon during the week. On weekends, when I usually go there it's much quieter as the food carts and the the people eating out on their lunch hour aren't there. I like the sculpture in the plaza. There was a lot of displeasure from the community when it was first put up but it grows on you. The library is welcoming which is something I like about libraries. It's one of the few places that you can just relax and read in public without a lot of hype and noise. The libraries now aren't as uptight as they used to be and though they don't like you making a lot of noise there isn't the hushed sacred attitude, just a quiet welcome. The downtown library has the best selection of new books with the Wilmot library running a close second. Woods is ok but either they don't select as many books I like to display or people just check them out too fast. I went up to the third floor and read a couple magazines. Some I like to read just certain columnists and others I skim through so I don't read all of all of them. I walked around the old train depot and took quite a few pictures. It's only open for a few hours for the Amtrak that comes through three time a week each direction so I couldn't go inside. There is a group of people who want to renovate the depot and the area around it. I would like to see that. It could be fixed up nicely and the Congress Hotel is right across the street where the passengers used to stay so it would make a nice area.
