I went to see my new doctor this morning. They told me that my appointment was this afternoon and gave me a bunch of paperwork to fill out. They have my old file, or should since I'm just changing offices of the same doctor group, but no, I have to fille out everything again. Usually I'm fairly sketchy about everything but being a little ticked off I filled it out very completely starting with the question "Have you ever been treated for parasites?". "Yes, in the 50s in Mexico", to my hemorroids. Yes indeed.

I went to my appointment and spent the first half hour being questioned on all my info by a medical student who was very earnest about this whole thing. He checked my reflexes, even. I haven't had my reflexes checked that thoroughly in a long time. He checked reflexes that I've never had checked before. The doctor came in and went over everything again and set me up with various tests and such so they can see if I'm ok.

She (I prefer female doctors) was very nice and to see what she was like was one of the reasons I setup the appointment. As an excuse, but a valid one, I wanted her to look at the tip of my tongue. It's sore all the time. Sometimes it's worse than others, especially if my mouth dries out because of exercise or at night, but even when it's not really sore, I can still tell that it's tender, sort of like when you've burnt your tongue with hot coffee, but it's been like this for several months. I worry because I smoked so much for so many years and I wonder if this is a result of the smoking.

I now have several appointments for blood work, my mother had high cholesterol (though I never had), a pap smear, a reminder that I needed to get a mammagram before the end of the year and that it's been two years since my last colon check when they removed a polyp and a visit to an ear, nose and throat guy for my tongue. This visit to a new doctor always causes so many tests. It's still better than it used to be when you had to be dying to get a test. People complain about insurance but I've had good luck with the PPOs that we have now.

Between the dentist and doctor I'm really busy this fall.
