I made a humungous salad tonight to take to work tomorrow. Another potluck. Oh, we have such good potlucks. We also are going to have a contest for the best decorated area and the best costume. It's been fun but I've been so tired and busy all week that I haven't enjoyed it as much as I would like.

I've heard a few "faceless bureaucrats" remarks by presidential candidates, the last one by Gore. As a facelss bureaucrat I object. We don't make the laws and we try to enforce them as nicely as possible but if someone wants to bitch, bitch to the lawyers who become politicians and never saw a law they didn't want to pass, thereby giving themselves and their colleagues job security.

I have no more live plants. I am just too hard on them and then I get depressed when they get all droopy and die. I think I'll stick to silk ones from now on, they are much more forgiving and you can have flowers all year. That's a winner.

I'm watching Tom and Jerry cartoons and enjoying them but at the same time I'm apalled at the level of violence in them. Were people more violent back then or was it just more accepted? I don't know if accepted is the right word because I don't remember people being more violent when I was growing up but my family wasn't violent so maybe I just didn't see it. I have a habit of not paying very close attention to what is going on around me but I don't think I could miss that.
