We went to see the big hole in the ground where they are putting the new freshman center below the mall at the university. The mall is a long stretch of green through the center of the university. They are digging a large section of it up and are going to put a building down there and then cover it up with grass, except for a below ground garden.

Right now there is this huge hole in the ground and all the students are upset because it make getting through the center of the university very difficult. They are also doing a complete remodel of the student union, which is right next to the mall, so it's a real mess down there right now.

We went to see the hole as part of our team building and monthly staff meeting so that we could see what all the money we are paying out is going for. We do this once in a while and it's a lot of fun. Universities, especially large, research universities like the U of A, have some very interesting stuff going on.

I also got taken to lunch today for my birthday yesterday. I got taken to lunch yesterday for my birthday also. Very nice. Now that my birthday is over I feel better. I was a bit depressed the last few days, but now life goes on.

Tucson goes on too. It looks like we're getting CAP water though it's going to take a couple lawsuits to figure out how. We also have a republican mayor, which is a surprise, and we'll get Rio Nuevo eventually. A little good and a little bad. That's politics. Anyone who expects everything their way needs a little dose of reality.
