We had a scare yesterday. My mother came down with pneumonia and since she's rather frail it was scary but she seems better today. They called my father because her file has orders to not use heroic measures so they wanted to know if antibiotics were ok. He was very upset because he thought she was about to die. It's hard, when she's so unresponsive anyway, to know if she's ok and how she's feeling.

A bad part of altzheimers is that you lose them twice, once when they don't remember you and again when they finally die. It's hard to say which is worse. I feel guilty because I don't go to see her more but I feel like she's not there much anymore. I don't know if she can tell if we are there though. One of the aides told me that when my father has been there she's always more alert for a few hours.

The month is flying by and we have so much to do at work. Fiscal year end is June 30th, but we have 1099s and 1042s to go out, and payroll has W2s and 1042s. Luckily, in accounts payable, we only have a few 1042s but too many 1099s. This is a short month too so there is always too much to do plus we need time for Christmas activities. All work and no play . . .

I need to get more walking and biking in. I've been very lazy lately and have taken the bus to work most of the time recently. I can tell that I'm getting a little flabbier. I usually feel better when I'm getting some exercise, partly because I'm in better shape and partly because I feel righteous.
