Monday, December 13, 1999I was beautiful riding my bike home this evening. It was just as the sun had disappeared but the sky was still bright blue except for the gold and pink clouds. It was cool enough that cycling was a real pleasure. It's been so warm this fall that I haven't had many days that it were cool enough to truly enjoy riding my bike in the afternoon and evening. I miss going on long rides when it's cool. Well, my long rides are about 20 miles, not 50 like a lot of people, and the 20 miles wears me out, but it's fun. Hopefully we'll have some cool weather for Christmas. I can handle the cactus but, somehow, 80 degrees is just not Christmas. I remember walking through the woods in Iowa City with a layer of snow to crunch through. I absolutely loved that. I enjoyed living where there's snow in the winter even if it is a pain to get to work in. I used to walk through the woods all year around. I miss that. Walking through the desert just isn't the same. I always loved a fresh clean snowfall when I was the first one to be out in it. I just miss seasons. It's nice having good weather so much of the time but I want a change. I want a difference besides hot or cold. I want snow and rain and fog.
