This was a shopping day. Mike and Lauri had some exchanges to make and some gift certificates to use. I went along to enjoy the hustle and bustle and spend time with them and see if there were any really good sales. Lauri and I have entirely different shopping styles. I walk in a store, see what's there, if I really like it I might try something on, and leave. I do not spend hours going through the sales racks. Lauri does and found a lovely outfit for New Years Eve. Sometimes I wish I could shop like that. I would have a better wardrobe and spend less money.

I have always had a hard time shopping with other people, except my children. I guess we shop in the same rhythm, but I have trouble shopping with other people. I don't think I ever learned the cues that people need to know to shop well with other people. I rarely shopped with my mother since we never had money to buy much and I don't think my mother was into shopping either. I often feel like I missed something especially when I'm with other women who seem to be into this and use it as a bonding experience.

We ate lunch at Olive Garden. I am eating so much this week. I'll be lucky if I can fit into any of my jeans come January. It was so nice to have a leisurely lunch and laugh and talk with them.

This evening we watched "Austin Powers: The Spy that Shagged Me" on video. It was so stupid but very funny. I haven't watched a lot of Mike Meyers but he is very good at slapstick humor though it's usually a bit beyond raunchy and is downright disgusting in a couple places, but I laughed a lot. I wouldn't go out and get another Austin Powers movie just to watch but it was fun watching it with Mike and Lauri, just not really my favorite kind of movie. We also watched some teenage movie that I don't remember the name of but I didn't find very interesting.
