I called the clinic today but had to leave a message for the woman who called me. This evening there was a message from the clinic again, but just that I needed to call back. Why don't they say why then want me to call back.

Shopping again. This time an Army/Navy surplus store. They are such interesting stores. They had an Indiana Jones hat like Mike wanted, and at a good price, but Mike needs XXL and they didn't have it. He did get some pants to climb in. I got a new coffee pot from Mike and Lauri and Mike picked up some Fat Tire beer that he says he can't get in California.

We also wandered around 4th Avenue so that Mike could get nostalgic about the good old days and I showed them the great photos that line the Broadway underpass into downtown. I love those pictures. We picked up some good bread at the bakery and they got some to take home. This was olive bread and rosemary bread day which I love.

Finally we picked up a couple videos. I had to fill out a new membership card for the video store as it's been so long since I actually got a video. I watch more movies when I'm with Mike and Lauri because they watch so many movies. It's good for me to watch new things and I usually enjoy what they want to see.

The first movie we watched was "The Matrix" which I have been wanting to see. It is excellent. So well done. I didn't see any inconsistencies but I was so caught up in the story I may have missed some. It is so possible that it's scary. I loved it. The premise is that we are all energy that feeds machines and the thoughts and lives we have are only memories programmed into us. The heroes are people who have broken free from the matrix but they still are bound by the matrix when they are in it and can't look beyond it. The main protagonist can actually break free and not just see the programming for what it is but bend it to his own uses once he accepts that it is possible. Well done good and evil as well as the theme that we are not masters of our own lives.

The other movie was "Free Enterprise". This was a nice followup to "Galaxy Quest", that we watched on Christmas day, as this one is told from the viewpoint of the trekkies with William Shatner playing himself. About to hit their 30s, the trekkies still base their lives on Star Trek, the original Star Trek. The movie shows how they, sort of, start to get a life instead of just living in an eighteen year old television show. Shatner does a good job of showing that he's just another actor and seems to have a lot of fun being a schmuck. I love someone who can laugh at himself. You have to be somewhat familiar with Star Trek to get all the inside jokes. I got most of them but Mike and Lauri got more. Good movie!
