It was so sad to see Mike and Lauri go this morning. I really enjoyed having them here especially since I've stayed at their place so often. I do so little entertaining and hospitality that I'm a little rusty and am not very good at it but I was glad they came. I also enjoyed seeing how much Mike enjoys being with Dan.

I called the clinic back and finally found out that they needed to redo the mammogram on one side so I'm going back in tomorrow morning to get them redone. They just said that they weren't very clear and assured me that it doesn't mean there is anything wrong, but neither did they say that everything is all right.

I decided to do my civic duty and donate blood. I didn't think it would be very busy since it was in the middle of the week for those who work this week and those who were off were suppose to be doing vacation stuff. The place was jammed. It took an hour before I ever lay down on one of the chairs. The blood letting went well and they taped me up to sit in the cookie and juice room for ten minutes.

As I sat down and reached for a cookie I felt a tickle on my arm and looked down to see blood flowing freely. I calmly walked back in and said "I'm bleeding! Help!" The nurse had me lay down again and had me hold my arm up and put pressure on the bandage. I started shaking and feeling nauseous and when she took my arm to redo the bandage I started to black out and said so. Then they poured ice water on me, drenching my shirt, and yelling at me to open my eyes and say something.

The ice water did snap me back to reality and while feeling a little weak I was much better. Donating blood doesn't bother me but flowing blood does. I remember when Lisa was in second or third grade she hit her head and came running in the apartment with blood running down her face. I slowly slid down the wall as everything turned black and heard her saying "Are you ok, Mommie?".

Anyway the nurses had me bending my knees, to get that blood moving up to my head, and I, of course, am on the chair in the middle room with a soaked tshirt, with everyone looking at me. I felt like a total fool. Finally I was allowed back in the the cookies and juice room for a while and then allowed to leave. I was nervous all the way back home on the bus because I was worried that my arm would start bleeding again, but made it safely. It's now nearly 9:00 in the evening and I still not bleeding, but it was scary.

I'm now watching "The Hallelujah Trail" with Burt Lancaster, Lee Remick, Jim Hutton, Brian Keith, and all the rest. It's just the light entertainment I need right now. There is nothing like a hilarious, politically incorrect movie for a little relaxation.
